Hello!

I'm Mel, the creator of Misty Concepts.

After having gained my HND in Interior Architecture in Edinburgh, I had the opportunity to work as an architectural assistant in Edinburgh & Dubai. It was in Dubai that my love for design grew and I eventually decided to continue my studies in architecture. 

 

The Accidental Discovery

I had been working on a university project with geometric designs that I still have nightmares about. I couldn't quite get the shape I wanted, so I went online and came across some origami video tutorials. I was mesmerised - they didn't help me with my model but my passion for origami was born. I started playing around with paper folding and experimenting with different shapes & patterns - and I soon knew I wanted to focus my career on creating beautiful things. 

 

What's in a name?

Shortly after leaving university I came across Misty, a shy & unwanted stray, at the Dogs Trust and fell in love with her instantly. At first, she was clearly very insecure about her new humans and surroundings, so I wanted to ensure I could include her in my daily routine as much as possible. I worked as a dog walker for a short while whilst setting up Misty Concepts and we developed an inseparable bond! Misty has influenced not only my business name but my career path and kept me company during long days of origami folding!

 

So, here we are...

I have a love and passion for designing, especially for things I can create and build with my own two hands from scratch; to build from nothing forever fascinates me. Through Misty Concepts, I am able to fulfill and satisfy my passion for creating beautiful things.
